“Traffic Fortnight”….?

Well, here it is the Fourth Day of Christmas already, and I figure an update is long overdue. I have to confess I’ve fallen somewhat behind schedule… I hope most people have been able to balance Christmas and work more effectively than I have! Anyway, I hope you’re enjoying a happy Christmas, and I wish you a fulfilling and prosperous new year.

Despite all that, I certainly haven’t been totally off-task…. One particularly gratifying event for me since my my last post was winning Gary Simpson’s ‘Project X competition’

By now you may well know what it’s all about, but in case you don’t, I suggest you go and check out his blog (see my blogroll).

The object of the competition was to guess the nature of his great new product, which I managed to do. As a reward, Gary kindly let me have a preview of it, and I can tell you I was very impressed. It will be very useful to people – me included! – in all kinds of situations, and will help them immensely. I hope to tell you more about it in a later post, with Gary’s permission.

This is supposed to be Traffic Fortnight, but I have to say that the last brainstorming session made me realise that my doubts about my blog set-up were by no means unfounded, and that there’s probably a lot which needs changing.

As Alex has said, there’s no point in sending loads of traffic to No Mans Land – if people feel their time’s been wasted, they won’t be back.

So I’ve been spending a lot of time looking critically at the set-up I’ve got here, with the intention of making it a nicer place to be.

I’ll talk about that in the next post, and hopefully get going with the most important changes.

Then I can catch up with the mechanics of directing traffic!

By the way, I’m also going to try and update Wordpress itself. Last time I tried I didn’t seem to be getting reliable backups, so I abandoned the attempt. This time I’m going to try manual backups…wish me luck!
